City Council candidate Alfonso Quiroz is having a fundraiser at Evolve, on Friday, December 19, 2008, at 6PM.
The event is being hosted by Scott Talbot, Tom Shanahan and John Rogers.
The suggested minimum contribution is $50.

Hello-
First and foremost, I hope you, your family and friends are having a happy and healthy holiday season.
I am writing to invite you to a cocktail reception that Tom Shanahan, Scott Talbot and John Rogers are hosting to benefit my City Council campaign. The event will be on Friday, December 19th from 6PM to 9PM - right before the big holiday rush - at Evolve (the old OW Bar) which is located at 221 East 58th Street in between 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
I've spent years on the political frontlines working in the Clinton White House and for candidates like Al Gore, Mark Green and Andrew Cuomo. But recently, we've witnessed an attack on our system of democracy right here in New York City.
The New York City Council's recent vote to embrace a measure to hand themselves the ability to run for a third term next year was a slap in the face to every single one of us. The incumbent Council Member I have been working to succeed, along with many of her colleagues, gave a self-serving, thumbs-up to seeking a third term.
Now, I've given a great deal of thought and have decided to continue my run for the 25th City Council District seat, in order to champion real change. My decision is based not just on principle but on an underlying belief that a new Council Member will be a much more effective public servant for Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Corona.
But I need your help.
It would be wonderful if you could attend and contribute to our efforts. We're nearing the next campaign finance deadline, so every dollar will help at this time. It will be a fun party with a great mix of people.
