BROOKLYN BOROUGH HALL ROTUNDA

209 JORALEMON STREET

BETWEEN COURT & ADAMS STREETS

DOWNTOWN BROOKLYN

On Tuesday, December 16Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and New York Cares Executive Director Gary Bagley will urge residents to donate coats to the 20th Annual New York Cares Coat Drive. Students from Mott Hall IV middle school in Ocean Hill-Brownsville, who have been collecting coats, will place them in the drop-off box at Borough Hall. BP Markowitz will commend the students for their hard work, and also donate two coats--one of his, and another from wife Jamie.

Now through the end of December, New Yorkers can give new or gently used adult and children's coats at Brooklyn Borough Hall and at hundreds of locations throughout the five boroughs, including all NYPD precincts, Grand Central Terminal, New York Penn Station, the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Oz Moving and Storage locations, the US Coast Guard Recruiting Station, The Pond at Bryant Park, Janovic Plaza Paint and Decorating Centers, and Time Warner Cable stores.

The New York Cares Coat Drive--one of the largest of its kind in the United States--collects more than 80,000 winter coats each year. Since 1989, New York Cares has collected more than one million coats and distributed them to homeless shelters, agencies serving seniors, and community organizations supporting people in need throughout the city.
