$25K GETS YOU TWO TICKETS TO OBAMA'S BALL

obama_nyreblog_com_.jpgHere's an e-mail we received from someone working on President-Elect Obama's Inaugural Committee.

Apparently, tickets to one of the Inaugural Balls (and other events) are available for sale.

Here's the information we received, just moments ago. [The name of the sender and all other identifiers have been deleted]:

Inauguration Weekend Packages $50,000 and $25,000*

Finally the change in government we worked so hard for, January 20th 2009. We know how historic it is. It will also be a wonderful few days in the nation's capital.  President-elect Obama chose to put the administration together with more urgency than the Inauguration. Now Inaugural events and schedules are coming together.

One thing does not change; the Inauguration is costly even in a time of economic restraint. President-elect Obama decided his Inauguration would be financed by individual citizens; not corporations, pacs or lobbyists.

If you choose to underwrite the Inauguration through one of the packages, please let me know. I will be sure you have the information and the answers you need.

$50,000 is the maximum a person can contribute. This covers four participants.

Until this Friday, December 12th, people can participate in a package for $25,000, with participation by two people.

The packages detailing all the events will be formalized and published within days.

The preliminary schedule of events includes the ceremony, the parade, an Inaugural Ball, concert, policy meetings, breakfasts and other opportunities to participate.

$50,000 is the limit per person and after Friday December 12th, will be the only package available.

Tickets to the ceremony on the Capital and the Mall are free. Members of Congress will give out their tickets any way they see fit. As you know, the entire length of the Mall will be open for people to 'attend' the ceremony.

The Obama administration does not control the tickets. The parade is also viewable for free along the route from the Capital to the White House.

If you are interested in tickets to the ceremony, be in touch with your Congressperson or Senator.

*$25,000 package, for two, ONLY AVAILABLE through Friday, December 12th
