$285,000: THE PRICE OF CONTEMPT

Violating court orders can be costly.  And, in Prudential Sec. Credit Corp., LLC v. TeeVee Toons, Inc., noncompliance with three discovery orders (and its "dilatory and disorganized" document production) cost TeeVee Toons $150,250.

On appeal, the Appellate Division, First Department, modified the findings and upped the contempt sanction to a whopping $285,000, concluding that that larger sum "more properly reflects plaintiff's attorneys' fees incurred as a result of defendants' contempt ...."

At $16 a pop, that's only about 17,828 CDs!
