We were interested to see how the various New York County Supreme Court Justices scored in the 2007 General Election and managed to get our hands on a copy of the " Statement and Return Report " prepared by the New York City Board of Elections .
Here are the final (official) numbers:
Fern Fisher

Republican: 5,660
Charles E Ramos

Republican: 5,547
Sheila Abdus-Salaam

[Did not seek Republican endorsement]
What we found particularly fascinating were all the "write-ins" for those four slots.
Scoring first, with a grand total of 7 votes, was political gadfly, Alan Flacks .*
Registering 4 votes, the vociferous Reverend Al Sharpton and deceased murderer, Ricky Ray Rector .
Bernard Block and William Jefferson Clinton each received 3 votes.
George Bush got a lowly, 2. As did, Mark Green , Martin O'Grady, and lawyer Ron Kuby .
In the single digits, you'll find:
Having died about three years ago, Mohammed Abdel Rahman Abdel Raouf Arafat al-Qudwa al-Husseini (a/k/a Yasser Arafat) was unavailable for comment. Mr. Finch , a resident of Maycomb , Alabama, referred callers to the National Audubon Society .
Democracy in action, or is this all for the birds?
