COMPETITIVE? COACH A MOCK TRIAL TEAM!

The Thurgood Marshall Junior Mock Trial Competition is a program in which seventh and eighth grade NYC students learn oral-advocacy skills and compete before sitting judges for prizes for their schools. During the competition, the students learn about our legal system and develop self-confidence and public-speaking skills.

Volunteer attorneys are needed to coach the teams one day a week starting in January and ending with the elimination rounds in May.  If you are able to donate the time, a rewarding [pro-bono] experience awaits.

The initial meeting for coaches is December 13, 2006, at 1 P.M., in room 314-A of the Bronx Supreme Courthouse. [Please R.S.V.P to Tmjmocktrial@aol.com as lunch will be served.] At the meeting, each coach will receive a coaching packet, including a trial booklet and lesson plans. If you would like more information, or, are interested in coaching but unable to attend the meeting, please call Liz Taylor at (646) 342-9624.
