GOT OVER 3 YEARS FOR KICKING BACK PART OF HER SALARY

SHARED $1000 to $1500 OF HER BI-WEEKLY PAY WITH HER FORMER EMPLOYER

A legislative assistant to a member of the Puerto Rico House of Representatives was sentenced to 3 years and 1 month in prison, for her alleged role in a salary kickback scheme with her former employer.

Apparently, the woman’s salary was raised from $800 (on a bi-weekly, after-tax basis) up $2900, on condition that the assistant share about $1,000 to $1500 of those monies with the legislator (and the latter’s family members).

After pleading guilty in November of last year “to bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds,” the assistant was sentenced on February 23, 2024

In January, her former employer was found guilty of “one count of conspiracy; two counts of theft, bribery, and kickbacks concerning programs receiving federal funds; six counts of honest services wire fraud; and two counts of money laundering,” and is scheduled to be sentenced on April 10, 2024.

There’s no kicking back and relaxing now ….
