COUPLE NEGLECTED THEIR FOUR KIDS

PARTNER VERBALLY ABUSED THE YOUNGSTERS AND ISOLATED ONE CHILD

After the Bronx County Supreme Court found that a mother and her companion, Anthony M., had neglected their four children, an appeal ensued.

On its review of the record, the Appellate Division, First Department, noted that the couple’s testimony established that they repeatedly punished A.V., by confining the child, for extended periods, in the child’s room and separating the youngster from siblings and other family members, “resulting in the child having suicidal ideations.”

Anthony is also said to have verbally abused the couple’s four children, threatening them with physical violence and abuse. And the mom apparently enabled that conduct, by failing “to intervene and protect the children.”

Given that the “preponderance of the evidence” supported the underlying neglect determination, the AD1 left the outcome undisturbed.

They’ll be no neglecting that.
