SAILOR ONLY GETS 27 MONTHS FOR SELLING MILITARY SECRETS TO CHINA?

ACCEPTED BRIBES FROM THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA

In early January, a service member of the U.S. Navy was sentenced to 27 months in prison and directed to pay a $5,500 fine for selling “sensitive” military information to the People’s Republic of China.

In October of 2023, WZ (26) of Monterey Park, California, pleaded guilty to “one count of conspiring with the intelligence officer and one count of receiving a bribe.”

According to a press release issued by the United States Department of Justice, WZ received payments totaling about $14,866.

In a written statement, Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen of the Justice Department’s National Security Division, noted that “Mr. Zhao betrayed his solemn oath to defend his country and endangered those who serve in the U.S. military . . . Today, he is being held to account for those crimes. The Justice Department is committed to combatting the Chinese government’s efforts to undermine our nation’s security and holding accountable those who violate our laws as part of those efforts.”

Did WZ sell out cheap?
