MARYLAND MURDER FOR HIRE PLOT FOILED

TWO RESIDENTS TARGETED FOR DEATH

In late January, two Canadian nationals and one Iranian were charged with a “conspiracy to use interstate commerce in the commission or a murder-for-hire plot.”

NSZ (49), DPJR (43), and ARP (29) purportedly sought to kill two Maryland residents who had defected from Iran. And to that end, the three men purportedly used encrypted software to share the victims’ identities and locations, to discuss logistics (how the murders were to be carried out), and coordinate payment arrangements with the assassins.

In a written statement, Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen of the Justice Department’s National Security Division noted, “To those in Iran who plot murders on U.S. soil and the criminal actors who work with them, let today’s charges send a clear message: the Department of Justice will pursue you as long as it takes – and wherever you are – and deliver justice.”

An indictment is merely an allegation. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

Now the plot really thickens ….
