TURTLE TRAFFICKER TROUNCED

FACES UP TO 5 YEARS IN PRISON

JMK (36) of Alva, Florida, pleaded guilty in late February to “one count of conspiracy to traffic wildlife and nine counts of falsifying records” in violation of federal law.

As the owner of an unregistered business, “Omni Reptiles, Inc.,” JMK offered protected reptiles for sale to domestic and foreign customers and shipped to such countries as Germany and China (Hong Kong). Of course, the documents which accompanied the animals were falsified to reflect they were “captive-bred,” rather than from the wild.

Scheduled to be sentenced on May 17, JMK faces up to five years in a federal prison.

That news must have made him turn turtle.
