ARMY HOTEL MANAGERS IN KOREA TOOK BRIBES

STOLE MONEY AND AWARDED CONTRACTS IN EXCHANGE FOR A 10-20% RETURN

BK (52) and DG worked for a resort operated by the Department of Defense out in Seoul, Korea. From 2014 to 2020, the men are said to have converted monies that were generated by the facility’s recyclable goods. They also had employees engage in tasks which financially benefited them.

Over that same period, BK was involved in four additional schemes where he influenced the award of the property’s contracts in exchange for bribes; some 10-20% of the contracts’ value. (He then split the proceeds with DG.)

BK, who pleaded guilty to “conspiracy to commit theft of government property and bribery of a public official,” is scheduled to be sentenced on June 18, and faces up to 5 years in prison. While DG, who pleaded guilty to “conspiracy to commit theft of government property,” is scheduled to be sentenced on Aug. 8, and also faces up to 5 years in prison.

Talk about mismanagement ….
