FRICKER’S FREAKED UP BY ENGAGING IN SEX DISCRIMINATION

WOULD ONLY HIRE MALE APPLICANTS FOR KITCHEN POSITIONS

Fricker’s restaurant chain, which has locations in Indiana, Ohio and Michigan, has allegedly only hired female applicants for service and other “front-of-house” positions, with male applicants relegated to kitchen positions.

Believing that such conduct violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the United States Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed suit in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio (Case No. 1:23-cv-00605-JPH), seeking monetary penalties and injunctive relief.

In a written statement, Kenneth L. Bird, regional attorney for the EEOC's Indianapolis District Office noted, “We encourage employers to examine their hiring practices to ensure their decisions comply with federal law …. Title VII prohibits sex discrimination except in very narrow circumstances.”

What the frick is going on over there?
