STOLE TUITION MONEY FROM OVER 300 FAMILIES

USED STOLEN SPORTS CAMP DEPOSITS FOR VACATIONS, GAMBLING AND PLASTIC SURGERY

After stealing some $380,000 in tuition and deposits from some 303 families across the country who wanted to send their kids to a Boston area sports camp, and, after purloining some $191,000 in loan money (using fraudulent contracts), MB (53) of Tampa, Florida, was convicted on October 19, 2023 -- after a six-day jury trial -- of two counts of wire fraud.

In a written statement, Acting United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy noted that, “[MB] preyed upon the trust of families, promising summer fun while plotting his own indulgence. He lured in, deceived and betrayed over 300 families – diverting hundreds of thousands of dollars not to the promised camps, but to personal pursuits like plastic surgery and extravagant vacations at Las Vegas casinos …. Today's verdict is a testament to our office’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that those who exploit trust for personal gain are held accountable.”

Scheduled for sentencing on January 11, 2024, he faces up to 20 years in prison, three years of supervised released, and a fine of up to $250,000.

That clearly was a bad gamble for that guy.
