EQUALITY INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL, which is based out of Hollywood, California, celebrates “diversity in filmmaking.” EIFF honors “worldwide cinematic excellence,” and showcases diversity, with its ninth season now underway (December 7-9, 2023).

We’re pleased to announce that UNCLE — a short film written and directed by Michelle Jones — has been chosen as a Semi-Finalist. The project is based on the true story of a man murdered while in government custody.
▫️
Set in ‘90s London, this story shares the perspective of a teenage girl as she learns of her uncle’s passing, and we watch as an “emotional roller-coaster” unfolds on the day of his funeral. (The officers involved in the killing were never criminally charged nor disciplined, leaving the surviving family members without any sense of justice or closure.)
