CONSERVE JACKY O’S RED GATE FARM!

Forty years ago, the widowed Jackie Kennedy Onassis purchased a 340-acre oceanfront property in Martha’s Vineyard, known as "Red Gate Farm" and quickly made it her family’s summer residence.

The former first lady’s daughter, Caroline, has placed the stunning 6,456-square-foot cedar-shingled-style home and surrounding property on the market for $65 million, according to Top Ten Real Estate.

“My mother fell in love with Martha’s Vineyard,” Caroline said, when asked about her mother’s summer estate by Town & Country. “It’s the most beautiful place on Earth.”

Situated at the edge of the Squibnocket Pond and the mile-long Atlantic Ocean beachfront, the residence was renovated in 2000 by Deborah Berke, Dean of the Yale School of Architecture. It includes five en-suite bedrooms, two powder rooms, as well as a chef’s kitchen. There's also a two-story guest house that features four bedrooms and three baths. And let’s not forget a beautiful pool and tennis court.

“When she found Red Gate Farm, it was a perfect expression of her romantic and adventurous spirit,” Caroline explained. “The dunes and ponds and rolling hills of Aquinnah gave her the chance to create a world where she could be so close to nature, close to her family and friends.”

Ken Ruscyzk, a Martha’s Vineyard resident, wrote a piece in the MV Times pleading that the MV Land Bank or other conservation organization purchase the beautiful land so it could “remain unspoiled forever.”

Red Gate Farm is being marketed globally by Christie’s International Real Estate, which is represented locally by Tom LeClair, Gerret Conover, and Kathleen Coumou, agents of LandVest, the exclusive Affiliate of Christie’s International Real Estate on Martha’s Vineyard.
