Today, we thank the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and other maternal figures in our lives for all they’ve done for us and our families.
Over the past few months, the women in our lives have seen too many of their basic rights come under attack from this new federal administration.
The right to equal pay for equal work, the right to quality healthcare, the right to flexible work arrangements, and the fundamental right to be treated fairly.
Over the past decades, we have seen the struggles and perseverance of the women before us and we will not allow any administration to turn back the clock on that great progress.
Our mothers and the other women in our lives are the backbones of our families and the communities that make New York City great.
So today, and every day, let us show our gratitude for them.
