I believe that every American should be sure that our elected officials put everyday people first, not selfish interests. Unfortunately we know this is not always true in Congress or in the White House.
That’s why I voluntarily post my tax returns on my website – to help instill confidence in New Yorkers that I work only for them. But President Trump has refused to do the same, so we have no way of knowing if he has the American people’s best interests in mind or if he’s making decisions to benefit his own financial interests.
People deserve to know what President Trump is hiding. I’m cosponsoring the Presidential Tax Transparency Act, which will require all presidents to release their tax returns so Americans know the president’s decisions aren’t being shaped by conflicts of interest. I need you to stand with me, because with President Trump in the Oval Office, passing this legislation has never been more important.
