INVITATION TO PROVIDE INPUT REGARDING NOMINEES FOR THE NEW YORK STATE COURT OF APPEALS

On December 1, 2014, State of New York Commission on Judicial Nomination released its list of seven nominees for the Court of Appeals.
On Friday, December 10th the Judicial Screening Committee of the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers will conduct interviews of all of the nominees and will subsequently issue its ratings regarding each candidate.
Pursuant to the Committee's Guidelines, all members of the New York
State Academy of Trial Lawyers are invited to provide the Committee with
input regarding the qualifications of the nominees. All input shall be
accompanied by the name of the member submitting the input, but the identity
of the member shall remain confidential to the Committee.
If you wish to provide the Committee with your input regarding the qualifications
of the nominees, please complete and immediately return the
Comment Form. The factors or criteria, which the Committee will use to rate the various
nominees are:
a. Judicial temperament;
b. Legal ability and experience;
c. Legal writing ability;
d. General reputation, character and fitness;
e. Industriousness, diligence and promptness; and
f. Impartiality, freedom from bias and prejudice.
Your input for each candidate should be specifically addressed to the
foregoing factors or criteria.
The Commission's seven nominees to the Governor are, in alphabetical order:

- Hon. Eugene M. Fahey, Associate Justice, Appellate Division, Fourth Department;
- Hector Gonzalez, Esq., partner at the law firm of Dechert, LLP;
- Hon. Erin M. Peradotto, Associate Justice, Appellate Division, Fourth Department;
- Mary Kay Vyskocil, partner at the law firm of Simpson, Thatcher & Barlett, LLP;
- Rowan D. Wilson, Esq., partner at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, LLP;
- Stephen P. Younger, Esq., partner at the law firm of Patterson, Belknap, Webb & Tyler, LLP
