Dear NYSTLA Member,
We are saddened to inform you of the recent passing of
Howard Finkelstein, NYSTLA past board member and father of board member Andrew Finkelstein.
Howard Finkelstein was a proud NYSTLA member since 1959, when he joined
following his graduation from Brooklyn Law School. He was the founding
partner of the firm of Finkelstein & Partners, LLP in Newburgh. Howard
was a trial lawyer who obtained more than 150 verdicts, including the
first million dollar verdict in Orange County in 1978 when a jury awarded
$2 million to his client. Howard was a frequent lecturer and contributor
to NYSTLA. Howard was honored by Brooklyn Law School as alumnus of the
year in 2010.
The family followed Howard’s wishes and held a private funeral service.
The family has already sat shiva. Howard was a colleague, a friend and
mentor to many NYSTLA members and his impact on the organization will
be remembered.
