Sam Schwartz, President and CEO of Sam Schwartz, spoke to a large crowd at this morning’s 148th CityLaw Breakfast. Professor Ross Sandler, Director of the Center for New York City Law, introduced Schwartz, followed by remarks from New York Law School’s Dean Anthony Crowell.

Schwartz spoke on Move NY: Traffic, Transit and Pricing. Schwartz remarked that the current bridge and tunnel pricing schemes “do not make sense” and gave a brief presentation on the history of such schemes. Alex Mathiessen from Executive Director of MoveNY joined Schwartz and spoke on the current support for the Move New York Fair Plan. “The Move NY Fair Plan would raise an estimated $1.5 billion annually by balancing tolls within NYC via a “toll swap” and charging for-hire vehicles, which would not pay CBO tolls, a surcharge on travel within Manhattan south of 96th/110th Street.” Mathiessen further said that the Move New York Fair Plan estimates the creation of 30,000 jobs.

The 149th CityLaw Breakfast featuring James P. O’Neill, Police Commissioner of New York City will be on February 23rd, 2018 at New York Law School.
