STOP COMPLAINING, ALREADY

Back before I held public office, I was what people sometimes call an “armchair analyst.” I was dissatisfied with the way things were going in my community -- but instead of doing something about it, I would passionately offer up my critique and opinions from the comfort of my own home.

Then one day while I was talking about what I would do differently on our local town council, my daughter piped up. She said something wise:

“If you see a problem and you can do something about it, step up and do it yourself. If you want to run, run. But if you don’t want to run, you can’t complain about it anymore.”

My daughter was right, so I took her advice. I still think about what she said when I need a pick me up.

That’s why I’m writing to you today. More than anything, I want to stay in office to fight for Connecticut families, but special interest groups are going to spend a lot of money trying to defeat me.

Complaining won’t fix it though. I have to take action. Will you help by making sure we hit our October goal? Give $5 to help us get ready for a victory in 2018.

Thank you,

Elizabeth
