On January 2, 2017, Governor of Puerto Rico Ricardo Rossello came into office and inherited a government in dire need of fiscal prudence, economic development and government reform. His first 100 days in office have produced a steady wave of executive and legislative orders intent on transforming Puerto Rico for generations to come.
Governor Rossello has signed over 50 bills and executive orders with immediate effect; controlling government expenses, establishing zero-based budgeting, spurring private sector investment and labor reform, promoting bilingual education, and shrinking the number of state agencies from 118 to fewer than 40 over the next four years.
Governor Rossello reflected on the steps he has undertaken to transform Puerto Rico and outline his dynamic vision for the future.
The mission of The Heritage Foundation is to formulate and promote conservative public policies based on the principles of free enterprise, limited government, individual freedom, traditional American values, and a strong national defense. For futther information, click here.
