PROTESTING THE XL PIPELINE

Lucas,

Wow. Trump's State Department is about to approve construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.

As you know, millions of people fought to stop the Keystone XL pipeline for years, culminating in an historic decision by President Obama to deny a permit to one of the dirtiest fossil fuel projects in the world. We cannot let this happen.

Please RSVP to join a rally tomorrow (Friday) evening in NYC to oppose the pipeline, organized by 350.org and the Sierra Club.

WHAT: Emergency KXL rally
WHEN: Friday, March 24, 6-8 pm ET
WHERE: Trump International Hotel -- One Central Park West, NYC, 10023

KXL has been referred to as "game over for the climate." I've personally fought against the pipeline. It is deeply saddening, and infuriating, to see this progress undone. Our movement has fought for too many years to give up without a fight now.

There are a few potential courses of action based on weak points: Like many of our petulant president's actions, this would be illegal because it hasn't gone through a proper Environmental Impact Statement process, as required by law. And some states will require a separate permit, so there will be continued lawsuits and grassroots organizing.

It will also represent another broken promise, since Trump has said many times that new pipelines would be required to use U.S-made steel. Surprise: more than half the steel in the pipeline will come from outside the U.S. Unfortunately, 45 IS holding up his promise that he'd roll back environmental protections.

To make sure we have a chance to stop this, we need to show our outrage loud and clear.

Please RSVP here and spread the word, so that tomorrow's (Friday's) rally is a big one!

Thanks for all that you do,
