HELP HER DAUGHTER, BETTY

I've included this photo of Officer Betty Shelby, a respected and decorated Police Officer from Tulsa, Oklahoma.

I'm blessed, because Betty lovingly calls me "Mom."

That's right, Betty is my daughter-in-law; however, to me she is my daughter, and the devoted mother of two of my beautiful grandkids. Betty is also a grandmother herself.

I'm writing you today out of panic and sheer desperation, because Betty and her family desperately need your financial assistance. I'll tell you exactly why in just a moment...

...But first, if you can, please take a look at the photo. When you do, you'll immediately see why what I'm about to tell you is so unprecedented, so dangerous, and so very wrong.

You see, on the night of September 16th, at roughly 7:40 PM, Betty made a life-and-death decision to defend herself and fired one round in self-defense.

That night and for what seemed like an eternity after, Betty's actions made national news because the media loves to scapegoat cops while maliciously fanning the flames of racial tension, even when it most certainly does not exist.

To this very day, not once has the media given Betty's side of the story or highlighted the life-threatening dangers that police officers face every day on the job and the split-second decisions they must make...

...Nor did they mention that at the same time Betty fired in self defense another Tulsa Police officer fired his taser in self defense -- at the EXACT SAME TIME!

...And, the media ran so many negative stories against Betty that one wouldn't ever have known that she felt her life was at risk because this convicted felon was high on PCP, hiding his hand while disobeying repeated commands, and suddenly lunged to reach inside his car window for what Betty thought could have been a gun!

Unbeknownst to my daughter at the time, police officers had previously arrested him FIVE TIMES for resisting arrest, assault on a police officer, and obstructing an officer.

And, in one of these instances, police officers recovered a loaded gun in his sock!

Unlike this career criminal with a rap sheet spanning two decades and pages long, Betty absolutely did not get the benefit of the doubt.

In fact, of the hundreds of hours of publicity devoted to this incident, not once did the media highlight Betty's unquestionable moral character and compassion, her extensive training to recognize drug abusers, or her impeccable police record and selfless volunteer activities with the Marine Corps League and Oklahoma Special Olympics.

Truth be told, the media did the exact opposite!

From the very beginning, they portrayed him as a law-abiding saint and my daughter as the career criminal.

That's right, before all of the facts were even uncovered, the media scapegoated Betty in their relentless, national campaign against all law enforcement.

They did the exact same thing to my daughter Betty as they did to officer Darren Wilson in Ferguson, Missouri, and to the five police officers in Baltimore whom were all found innocent!

As her mom, I'm not afraid to tell you I cried for days when I heard the horrendous news...

...The news that the prosecuting attorney in this case wants to put Betty in JAIL for up to 20 years!

To this day, I still cry. But, as a Christian woman, I have hope that justice will prevail.

That's why I'm reaching out to you today to ask for your financial assistance in defending my daughter, officer Betty Shelby.

The National Center for Police Defense, a 501(c)3 non-profit charity, has agreed to raise money to help support Betty and her family during her their time of need.

The National Center for Police Defense (NCPD) is a 100% volunteer organization comprised of police officers (retired and active) and defense attorneys who know what Betty has been through and what it takes to see her case to victory.

Founded by Jim Fotis, an Army veteran and retired police officer from New York, the NCPD has been instrumental in taking the lead to stand up for police officers like Ferguson's Darren Wilson and Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Phoenix, Arizona.

Betty's legal defense is going to cost over $200,000 and not one penny of your tax-deductible donation will be used for NCPD's salaries, because there are none!

So, whatever amount you can send, $25, $50, $100 or even $500 to help my daughter, officer Betty Shelby, clear her good name would be an answer to prayers.

But if $25, $50, $100 or $500 is more than you can send, please know any gift of $15, $10, or even $5 would be a true blessing to our entire family and help defend the rule of law.

Make no mistake, in what has become a shameful pattern across America, rather than wait for all the facts to come out, Betty has already been practically tried and convicted by the hostile media and they cannot wait to write all about her conviction and treatment in the "women's prison" to which she will certainly be sent.

Betty's exoneration at trial is key to restoring the integrity of policing in America.

This "war on cops" is not a joke. It's for real. And now, they're coming after my Betty.

Please, from one parent to another, I beg you to lend me a hand by making your most generous gift of $500, $100, $50, $25, $15, $10, or even just $5 today.

From the bottom of my heart, on behalf of my son and grandchildren, and on behalf of all law enforcement personnel and their families, I thank you.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Bertie Shelby

P.S. Betty is the kindest, bravest, most honest police officer you could ever meet. She is the joy of her family and a highly respected member of the law enforcement community. Please, help my family prove her innocence by supporting her legal defense with your generous, 100% tax-deductible, donation of $500, $100, $50, $25, $15, $10, or even just $5 to the National Center for Police Defense, Inc (NCPD) today. I pray you will do your best, as Betty has always done as a mom and police officer.
