FUND LOCAL SHELTERS

Dear Lucas,

New York law requires almost every municipality in the state to maintain an animal shelter for homeless and abandoned animals. However, local shelters receive little to no state support to help offset their often substantial operating costs.

The New York State Legislature is seeking to address this by including a Companion Animal Capital Fund in its 2017-2018 budget. This fund would help shelters across the state with much-needed structural repairs and improvements.

Time is running out: Governor Cuomo has until this Saturday, April 1, to approve the budget with the shelter funding provision. It is urgent that he hear your voice of support today.

What You Can Do

The most important thing you can do right now is call Governor Cuomo today at (518) 474-8390. Simply leave a message stating that you are a constituent and that you support the Companion Animal Capital Fund in the 2017-2018 budget.

Then, pleasevisit the ASPCA Advocacy Center to quickly send a follow-up email to the Governor.

Thank you, New York.
