DID ENERGY COMPANIES LIE ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE?

Lucas

As you know, Eric has been investigating whether or not fossil fuel companies have misled investors and consumers about the risks of climate change to their company’s finances.

But Republican Congressman Lamar Smith of Texas is trying to undermine Eric's investigation by issuing a subpoena demanding confidential information from Eric’s law enforcement investigative file.

This move is unprecedented and unlawful – members of Congress are not authorized to interfere with a pending state law enforcement investigation.

Eric will not be intimidated by Congressman Smith's attempts to bully him into backing down from investigating Big Oil. And he will not hand over confidential information from his investigation.

The Los Angeles Times published a great article supporting Eric's refusal to comply with the subpoena. Will you read the article and then share it with your friends?

As the Los Angeles Times article says, "Smith’s motivation for...protecting fossil fuel companies such as ExxonMobil isn’t hard to discern...Oil and gas contributors have directed nearly $700,000 in Smith’s direction since he entered in Congress in 1987; in the two Congressional election cycles since 2013, when he became chairman of the science committee, oil and gas has been his top industrial source of campaign funding."

Eric will not be deterred by Lamar Smith – he will continue his investigation of Big Oil.

Read the Los Angeles Times article to learn how Eric is standing up to Congressman Smith's attempts to derail his Big Oil investigation, and then share it with your friends.

Thank you for supporting Eric in standing up to Big Oil and its allies in Congress.
