CONGRATS JUDGE SILVER & JUDGE MENDELSON!

Dear NYSTLA Member,

NYSTLA would like to congratulate Supreme Court Justice George J. Silver and Acting Supreme Court Justice Edwina Mendelson on the new administrative roles they will be assuming.

Chief Administrative Judge Lawrence K. Marks yesterday announced that Justice Silver will become Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for the New York City Courts and Justice

Mendelson will become Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Justice Initiatives. Both roles are currently held by Judge Fern Fisher, who for the past eight years has served as Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for the New York City Courts and head of the court system’s Access to Justice Program. She is planning to retire in June.

In his new capacity, Justice Silver will oversee the day-to-day management of the trial courts in New York City’s five boroughs. As Deputy Chief Administrative Judge for Justice Initiatives, Judge Mendelson will direct a wide range of initiatives to ensure meaningful access to justice in civil and criminal matters for all New Yorkers regardless of income, background or special needs.

NYSTLA also thanks Judge Fern Fisher for her exemplary continued service on behalf of the court system and all New Yorkers.
