Eight years ago, Democrats held numerous hearings over the Affordable
Care Act. Dozens of Republican amendments were added to the bill during
that process.
Yet Republicans have not held a single public hearing in the House or
Senate on their bill to repeal Obamacare.
Instead, Mitch McConnell just implemented an obscure Senate rule that
will allow Republicans to skip the entire hearing process, leaving a bunch
of men in a backroom to decide the shape of the repeal bill.
We cannot allow Republicans to force through Obamacare repeal with such
a shocking lack of transparency.
Without hearings, a vote could happen as soon as this week. Chip in $1

It is absolutely mind-boggling that Republicans won’t even hold
a public hearing on a bill that affects one-sixth of our economy, that
would raise health care costs for millions of Americans, and that would

They won’t give Democrats the opportunity to offer a single amendment
either -- even though
dozens of GOP amendments were accepted when the Affordable Care Act was in the Senate.
Instead, Republicans are rushing to pass a bill with just 50 votes, with
the tie broken by Vice President Pence -- and they’re counting on
a lack of public attention to force it through. They think that if they
don’t hold hearings, no one will hold them accountable.
