Dear Friends,
Did you know that composting is an effective way of reducing greenhouse
gas emissions? The environmental impact is due to both decreased fossil
fuel consumption from waste transportation and the reduction of greenhouse
gases produced as the food decomposes in a landfill.
On Wednesday, June 14 please join us for a workshop on composting opportunities
in Council District 3.
Here are the details:
Composting 101 Workshop
Wednesday, June 14
6:00 – 7:30 PM
Pier 66 Boathouse
207 12th Avenue (at West 26th Street)

Instead of throwing away organic waste as garbage, it should be separated
for composting so it can enrich our environment, not damage it. By participating
in an organic waste recycling program, you can be part of the solution.
Also, you are invited to join us at an announcement of new compost drop-off
locations up and down Hudson River Park.
I am proud to have allocated $100,000 in capital funds to enable Hudson
River Park to dramatically expand the number of compost drop-off locations
up and down the West Side.
In service,
Corey Johnson
Council Member, District 3
