IT'S CATASTROPHIC?

Lucas -

Make absolutely no mistake about it: Senate Republicans may have pulled their “health care” bill from consideration last week, but this fight is far from over. In fact, it could come back up again in less than two weeks.

You’ll remember that before the House of Representatives passed their version of the legislation, it stalled on multiple occasions.

That fact underscores why it’s so important that all of us keep calling. Keep posting on social media. Attend rallies in your community. Because the human cost of this bill is immeasurable.

People will die. Families will go bankrupt scraping together every last dollar in order to ensure loved ones get the lifesaving care they need. Premiums will go up for many others. Protections for those with pre-existing conditions will be lost.

We have already proven many times throughout the first months of the Trump administration that we have tremendous power when we speak with one voice. So I am asking you to do that once again today:

Sign my petition and tell the Senate that New York City — the largest and most diverse city in America — stands united against the Republican “health care” legislation. When you’re done, forward this email to friends and urge them to do the same.

In New York City, at least 1 million people will lose coverage. It will strain our health care system and undermine our local economy. The good news is, we have two Senators – Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand – fighting to stop this human catastrophe.

But we all must make our voices heard. Thank you for adding your name to my petition.

In solidarity,

Bill de Blasio
Mayor, New York City
