President Trump's "Commission on Election Integrity" is doing
nothing to make our elections fairer or more secure.
It isn't restoring voting rights. It’s not taking steps to protect
future elections from foreign interference. It’s not examining how
strict voter ID laws affect voter turnout.
Instead this commission is trying to collect Americans’ personal
information, stoke voter fraud conspiracy theories, and lay the groundwork
for voter suppression efforts.
This commission is a waste of taxpayer money. After asking states to turn
over sensitive voter data to the federal government, the commission put
their request on hold until a federal judge can decide whether the White
House has done enough to protect voters’ privacy.
Here’s what I propose: Do away with this commission in its current
form altogether. Add your name if you agree.
We all know where this started. After the 2016 Presidential Election,
President Trump tweeted, with absolutely no evidence, that he believed
millions of illegal voters were to blame for his popular vote loss.
President Trump's voter fraud claims are completely unfounded. His
accusations, like his commission, are intended to lay the groundwork for
restrictions that will make it tougher for Americans to exercise their
right to vote.
The Presidential Advisory Commission on Election Integrity is a waste
of taxpayer money.
Sign my petition and tell Trump to abolish it.
Thank you,
Elizabeth
