Beto is running for U.S. Senate in Texas against one of the most conservative obstructionists in Washington: Ted Cruz.
This is going to be an uphill climb, and Ted Cruz will raise a lot of money to try and keep his seat. But there’s incredible energy right now among grassroots activists like you, and I know Beto can win this race if we step up and support him early.
Beto is one of the smartest, most honest and most dedicated public servants I’ve met in Congress. He knows how to work across the aisle to get things done, and he’s never afraid to stand up and fight for what’s right. Like me, Beto comes from a family of Irish immigrants. And as the representative for a district along our southern border, he knows better than anyone that when Donald Trump and Ted Cruz attack immigrants and refugees, they’re only making our country weaker and abandoning fundamental American values.
Meanwhile, we remember Ted Cruz for making snarky jokes about “New York values” during his failed presidential campaign. We remember him shutting down the government in 2013 during his failed attempt to block funding for the Affordable Care Act. We remember Ted Cruz calling Donald Trump a “sniveling coward,” a “pathological liar,” and “utterly amoral” — only to turn around and endorse Trump a few months later.
Beto is a progressive leader we can trust to fight for what’s right, tell the truth and deliver results for the people he serves. Ted Cruz is the exact opposite.
