CONGRATULATING ERIC GONZALEZ

PUERTO RICAN BAR ASSOCIATION CONGRATULATES ERIC GONZALEZ FIRST HISPANIC DISTRICT ATTORNEY IN NEW YORK STATE

The Puerto Rican Bar Association is very proud and honored that Eric Gonzalez became the First District Attorney of Hispanic heritage in New York State. PRBA Member and Criminal Justice Committee Chair, Eric Gonzalez is a 20 year veteran at the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office and is extremely qualified to head the office. Eric Gonzalez was sworn in as Acting Kings County District Attorney on October 11, 2016.

The Puerto Rican Bar Association respectfully recommends that Governor Cuomo formally appoint Eric Gonzalez as District Attorney, Kings County to continue the mission and honor the legacy of the late Ken Thompson.

The Puerto Rican Bar Association will continue to mourn the loss of a great leader, Ken Thompson, Brooklyn District Attorney. We are honored to have known and worked with a great leader who transformed the office into a model urban prosecutor’s office. D.A. Ken Thompson appointed Eric Gonzalez as Chief Assistant District Attorney in 2014 and they worked closely together for over two (2) years to improve the Brooklyn DA’s office. A week before he left us, D.A. Ken Thompson designated Eric Gonzalez, Chief ADA to lead the office during his illness.
