Lucas, I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
I am honored to continue serving our district in Congress. There is still so much to fight for even though we didn’t get the result we wanted in our presidential election.
In our district, in our neighborhoods, our strength comes from our diversity. As we begin this new era in our government, we cannot forget this.
As Hillary Clinton said yesterday, “Our constitutional democracy enshrines the peaceful transfer of power. We don't just respect that. We cherish it. It also enshrines the rule of law; the principle we are all equal in rights and dignity; freedom of worship and expression. We respect and cherish these values, too, and we must defend them.”
While we are shocked and pained now, we will come together to fight for these values. I promise I will do my part as I continue to serve our community in Congress.
