*A former president of the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA), Dolores S. Atencio is the first Visiting Scholar of the University of Denver Latino Center (DULCCES) where she is completing her identification and study on the first Latina lawyers / law school graduates in the United States. Her work includes sheparding the first and second national studies on Latina lawyers (2009 & 2010) as the first HNBA Co-Chair of the Latina Commission; Article, "The Making of An American Justice: The HNBA's Quest for the First Hispanic Supreme Court Justice (Summer 2010);" Las Primeras Abogadas - Una Historia (2013), milestones of Latina Lawyer accomplishments from 1923 - 2013; Salute to Latina Lawyers in the 50 States (2014); and Las Luminarias de La Ley Exhibit (Nov 2015-Feb 2016). Atencio will writing a collegiate level history book, legal treatise and develop curriculum for middle and high school students about these American women lawyers.
