FAIR DAY IN COURT FOR KIDS

Imagine a child fleeing violence and possibly abuse in his or her home country who is forced to travel alone to the United States.

Now imagine that same child being sent before an immigration judge alone in a court of law because he or she cannot afford counsel. This is happening to real children, not imaginary or hypothetical ones.

This is an outrage, a national disgrace. We must do better for anyone who comes to America seeking safety – but especially children.

As the son of an immigrant, as a father and as an American, I will not accept treating immigrant children so inhumanely. Sending a preschooler to court without representation cannot be the American way.

Tell Congress: Pass the Fair Day in Court for Kids Act to ensure every child facing immigration proceedings has a real lawyer.
