From my family to yours I wish you a reflective and peaceful Memorial Day.
San Diego is a proud military town that knows better than most the sacrifice
of our servicemembers and their families. Earlier this month we lost one
of our own when Coronado-based Navy SEAL Charles Keating IV was killed
by ISIS fighters in Iraq.
Memorial Day is a sacred time to remember the heroes like Navy SEAL Keating
that gave the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our country and the values
and freedoms that make it so great.
I hope that today offers you the chance to reflect on the service of someone
important to you as we continue the serious work of keeping our promises
to our servicemembers, veterans, and their families.
