Lucas,
Sunday’s attack in Florida claimed 49 lives and wounded over 50.
This act of terrorism targeted a popular location for Florida’s
LGBT community – a place where the community went to feel safe,
be accepted, and have fun.
Over the next several weeks, I hope that we continue our national conversation
about terrorism, anti-LGBT bigotry and hate, as well as gun violence –
specifically closing the terror gap to keep guns out of the hands of those
on terror watch lists.
There are also so many ways we can come together right now to help the
victims and their families:
- The Red Cross has many resources to find a blood donation event near you. Whether or not you live close to Orlando, your donation could help others in need in our communities. Click here for more information >>
- Equality Florida has created the official Pulse Victims Fund to provide victims and their families with the resources they need during this difficult time. Click here to find out more and make a donation to this important cause >>
Our thoughts are with the victims and their loved ones. We also pray for a quick recovery for all those who have been injured and extend our heartfelt gratitude to the law enforcement officers and first responders in Orlando.
Thank you,
Elizabeth
