Dear Lucas,
Most chefs I know are busy. Like, beyond busy. If we’re not in the
kitchen, we’re meeting with our staff, looking at a new space, contributing
our time at an event, or maybe seeing our families. But you can usually
find us in the kitchen. So what drove me and almost 150 other chefs and
members of the culinary community to agree to leave our kitchens –
and staff and meetings and families – for 3 days to ride 300 miles
on a bicycle?
No Kid Hungry. We believe every child should have access to the healthy
food they need to thrive. And so when No Kid Hungry asked us to do something
a little out there to raise funds and awareness, we went out and bought
bikes and started riding or we tuned up a dusty one and together we started
training. After a few weeks of training, we were able to ride further
than we ever expected. For some of us it was 20 miles, for others it was
100. (We won’t tell you who was who.)
Together, we are riding to raise critical funds for No Kid Hungry’s
efforts to end childhood hunger.
Will you support me and my fellow chefs as we ride to end childhood hunger
in America?
This mission means a lot to us. While we may struggle to get up a steep
hill on this ride, it’s nothing compared to the uphill climb that
too many kids out there face. Not getting regular, healthy meals hurts
kids in so many ways. We can’t stand to think of that happening.
But we can stop it.
Help us feed more kids. Even a $10 gift can connect a hungry child to 100 meals.
Thank you for your support,
Duff Goldman
