As we celebrate our independence, let's not forget to salute those
who made it possible for us to be free and never forget.
Elie Wiesel, an Auschwitz survivor, who passed away yesterday, was
a true leader.
As the Nobel committee said of his work upon awarding him the peace prize
in 1986, Wiesel's message “is one of peace, atonement and human
dignity. His belief that the forces fighting evil in the world can be
victorious is a hard-won belief.”
Elie Wiesel, we salute you and will never forget.
