It’s a big month. For the 51st year in a row, Republicans have failed to dismantle Medicare.

Back in the 1960s, Republicans fear-mongered about Medicare taking away our freedom. If you listen closely to Paul Ryan, some things just don’t change.

Of course, they were (and are still) wrong.

Fifty-one years later, I am proud to report that America is much better for having Medicare. Generations of seniors have gained financial security in their old age.

You have to give Republicans credit -- they’re persistent. To this day, Paul Ryan is toiling away trying to discover the way to destroy traditional Medicare.

For the last 7 years, House Republicans have tried over and over again to pass their disastrous Ryan Plan to end Medicare as we know it. And for the last 7 years, Democrats have stopped them.
