Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Projects Improve Safety and Resiliency of Critical Infrastructure

Projects Complement Record $21.1 Billion Investment in Roads and Bridges

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo recently announced the completion of five transportation infrastructure improvement projects, totaling $28.4 million in road and bridge work across New York. The safety improvement projects range from complete road reconstructions to interstate bridge replacements and rehabilitations. In keeping with Governor Cuomo’s Drivers First initiative, the work was completed with as few traffic impacts as possible. These projects complement the state's record $21.1 billion investment in roads and bridges.

"Safe and resilient roads and bridges are essential to drive and support economic growth, and these major projects will help improve New York’s transportation network," Governor Cuomo said. "From the North Country to the Southern Tier and in the Hudson Valley, we are strengthening our infrastructure to meet the needs of current and future generations of New Yorkers."

New York State Department of Transportation Commissioner Matthew J. Driscoll said, "With Governor Cuomo’s strong support for infrastructure, we have been able to tackle numerous projects across the state that support local communities and regional economies. These roads and bridges connect neighborhoods to schools, employment and shopping centers, while supporting short and long distance shipping."
