PASS THE EQUALITY ACT

Lucas,

If I've learned anything from the long fight for LGBTQ equality, it's that we can't afford to get complacent.

We've come a long way since I voted against the Defense of Marriage Act 20 years ago. But the recent surge in discriminatory legislation against LGBTQ Americans shows we still have a long way to go. Did you hear about the platform the Republican Party drafted that would take us back to the 1900s?

I'm proud to cosponsor the Equality Act, which would expand the Civil Rights Act to protect the LGBTQ community from discrimination. But it's been a year since the Equality Act was introduced, and Republicans have refused to bring this bill to a vote.

It's outrageous that they're delaying equality for LGBTQ Americans. Will you stand with me to demand Congress act to pass this important bill?

Thank you for adding your voice.
