Mayor Bill de Blasio recently announced the appointment of Judge Monica Shulman to Family Court. As a Family Court judge, Judge Shulman will preside over cases related to New York City’s children and their families. Judge Shulman has an array of experience in the public and private sectors, having worked most recently as Court Attorney-Referee for the Family Court in New York County.

“The Family Court protects the best interests of our city’s children and their families, serving a special role in our judicial system,” said Mayor Bill de Blasio. “With Judge Shulman’s wealth of experience in the Family Court and at the Administration for Children’s Services, I am confident that she will be an honest, compassionate and fair judge for children and families across the five boroughs.”

About Judge Monica Shulman
Judge Monica Shulman has been an active Family Court practitioner for nearly 18 years. She most recently served as a Court Attorney-Referee in the New York County Family Court since 2010 and formerly served with the Administration for Children’s Services for 12 years in the Bronx, New York and Kings Counties. She is co-Chair of the Children and the Law Committee of the Women’s Bar Association. Judge Shulman is a graduate of Indiana University and received her law degree from Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center.
