RESTORE THE VOTING RIGHTS ACT

Lucas –

When the Supreme Court struck down the heart of the Voting Rights Act in 2013, extremist politicians got the green light to revive voter suppression efforts such as skewed redistricting, voter ID laws and restricted early voting.

I can’t emphasize this enough: Ensuring that every American has equal access to the ballot box is the cornerstone of our democracy. No matter which side of the aisle you stand on, we cannot afford to let that crumble.

But that is exactly what will happen unless we speak out now. This month marks the 50th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act – join me and my colleagues in demanding that Congress restore this legislation to protect the fundamental right to vote.

Add your name to demand that Congress restore the Voting Rights Act to protect American voters from discrimination at the ballot box!

Tell Congress: Restore the Voting Rights Act!

At the 1963 March on Washington, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. called the crowd to recognize the “fierce urgency of now.” Now is the time for us to protect the legacy of the Voting Rights Act – not tomorrow, not next year and not after the next election.

Because if Americans are silenced at the voting booth, we will lose our say on the issues we care about most – the ones that impact our lives every single day.

We have to act now, together. Join me in demanding that Congress restore the Voting Rights Act with urgency:

Add your name to tell Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act!

Thank you for exercising your voice today so that others have the same right to theirs.
