When a young mom needs time to care for a newborn, or when any one of us needs to care for a dying parent, we should not have to sacrifice our job to do what is right for our family.

But that is our broken system under the Family and Medical Leave Act of 1993 – and that is why I reintroduced the FAMILY Act: To modernize the workplace and finally implement paid family and medical leave for every worker.

No one should be forced to choose between caring for their loved ones and earning a paycheck.

To do this, we have to show Congress the undeniable importance of paid family and sick leave for American families – and your voice can make all the difference. Will you take a moment to share with me how this legislation will impact your family?

Share your story: Tell Congress how paid family and medical leave will help your family.

This is not just a women’s issue. Today, eight out of ten mothers are working, and when they do not have paid leave, their entire family is impacted. What's more, the United States is the only industrialized nation in the world without a paid leave program for its workers.

But under my proposal, if the average woman worker contributes about the cost of one cup of coffee per week, we could create a program that would benefit MILLIONS of families.

And I know that when my colleagues in Congress hear from hardworking people like you, they will recognize the invaluable impact paid family and medical leave would have on our families and our workforce.

Please, will you share your story with me to help push this critical legislation forward? You can use this link to share your story now.

When we bring our voices together, we can be louder. Thank you for sharing your story.
