SPRING FOR RENEWAL

This year’s GMHC Spring Gala will be held on Monday, March 23 at Cipriani on 42nd Street, NYC. Proceeds will support GMHC programs and services for those living with HIV and AIDS in New York City.

We are thrilled to be honoring Larry Kramer, one the organization’s original six founders and award-winning writer of the play and HBO’s Emmy-winning film adaptation of The Normal Heart. Given the renewed energy in New York around ending the epidemic by 2020 and the fact that GMHC is preparing to celebrate the 30th Annual AIDS Walk New York in May 2015, honoring Mr. Kramer signifies a significant moment for the world's first AIDS service organization.

In addition to honoring Mr. Kramer, the organization will honor the longstanding corporate supporter, Delta Air Lines; and a former Chairman of the Board of Directors, Myron Sulzberger (“Mickey”) Rolfe, who led the organization through its most recent leadership transition.

"There would be no GMHC, without Larry Kramer," said Roberta (“Robbie”) Kaplan, Co-chair of GMHC’s Board of Directors and winner of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case United States v. Windsor in a recent New York Times article. "The victory we have seen in this country for LGBT equality, including marriage equality, is in large part because of Larry Kramer and the other AIDS activists who built the foundation for our ability to come together as a community to fight to be treated with the same dignity as everyone else.”

The GMHC Spring Gala has become one of the most important annual events, having raised more than $3 million for the agency since 2008. Held at many of New York’s most spectacular venues, the event is attended by the city’s most noted philanthropists, corporate and social leaders, and celebrated veterans in the fight against AIDS. It is a must-attend event for anyone in the HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ communities.
