LET STATES DECIDE!

Lucas,

It broke my heart to hear Kate Hintz describe how her daughter Morgan has never hugged her or been able to call her “mom.”

Morgan has Dravet syndrome, a kind of epilepsy that starts at birth and causes dozens of seizures every day.

Although there is a growing scientific consensus that medical marijuana helps control seizures and even though Kate lives in a state that has legalized medical marijuana, she would still be in violation of federal laws if she provided her daughter with the treatment she needs.

While medical marijuana is legal in 23 states and the District of Columbia, federal law still prohibits its use, leaving the doctors who prescribe and patients who use this medicine vulnerable to federal prosecution. We have to fix this.

Earlier this week, I introduced bipartisan legislation with Sens. Cory Booker and Rand Paul to end the federal ban on medical marijuana.

Will you join us in urging Congress to make this vital medication available to everyone who needs it?

Click here to join us in calling on Congress to end the federal ban on medical marijuana in states that have passed laws to legalize its use.

It's crystal clear: It’s time to modernize our laws and recognize the health benefits of medical marijuana.

Our new bill will let doctors do their jobs and give parents every available option to comfort their children, like Morgan and so many others.

Will you help us? This issue is beyond politics. We need Congress to stand for what is right.

Thank you,

Kirsten [Gillibrand]
