THE CHRIS S. OWENS FOUNDATION is a 501 c(3) non-profit organization created in the name and honor of 13 year old Chris S. Owens, who was shot April 26, 2009 by a stray bullet in Harlem, New York. Taken off life support a week later at St. Luke's Hospital he was officially pronounced dead. ​

​Chris Foye, father of 13 year old Chris S. Owens and CEO and founder of THE CHRIS S. OWENS FOUNDATION made a decision to extend his son's legacy and make a positive impact on at risk youth and young adults to end a culture of gun violence in his son's name and honor. The Chris S. Owens Foundation believes it will change the culture of gun violence, negative youth images and the mind set of a communities deeply impacted by guns and lack of resources with positive alternative to gun violence.

Our​ Mission is to stop the epidemic of youth gun violence in America with the application of correct education that will raise the
consciousness and quality of life for everyone. We are a New York City based community organization who care about the lives of our youth.

The Chris S. Owens Foundation designed its programs to advance the quality of life for our participants and the community via education, awareness and career opportunities via our internship training programs. We have partnered with ​community base non-profit organizations and businesses to encourage support and community activism amongst the youth via our sports program, annual charity events and scholarship awards to students who qualify based on GPA and progress reports.
